INSIDER TIPS

  • The 'Fiery Chicken Gimbap' is a good bet, if you want something close to sushi but are not sure you want to venture into raw fish
  • The 'Bird of Paradise' is a great mocktail to go with Jasmine Tea, Orange, Basil and Lime
  • Do try the Korean Snowflake dessert 'Bingsu', made with milk shavings. If none of the flavours catches your interest, you can even customize your own

Indiranagar now has a new Asian restaurant that brings together popular favourites onto one menu. One look at it and what strikes you is that it is not extensive, yet has enough choices to keep everyone happy and have you come back a few more times to try it all. To start us off while we were perusing the menu were choices from the mocktail section – 'The White Lady', with Passion Fruit, Pineapple and Green Apple and the 'Litchi Twist' with Litchi, lemon and mint; really refreshing. As appetisers, the'Waterchests' and 'Mushroom Fry' are a good place to begin, as is the 'Yum Talay' – a seafood salad with a lemon-honey dressing. The restaurant has a good selection of sushi – and it is a pleasure to see the staff making suggestions from Nigiri, Maki and Uramaki Rolls, fully understanding the difference between them all. We had the 'Dynamite Roll with Tuna and Crabstick' as well as the 'Salmon Nigiri', both of which were really good. I was surprised to see an entire section dedicated to the Korean Gimbap, which I honestly have not seen outside of Korean restaurants in the city. From the selection of bao, the 'Sambal Shrimp Bao' is a lovely choice – the sweet soft baos are offset really well with a not-so-spicy sambal prawn mix, making for a good mix of flavours and textures in the mouth. Moving on to the main courses – they have a great selection of rice and noodle bowls. The 'Laksa' was a lovely – coconut creamy, loaded with noodles, peanuts, caramelized onions and a soft boiled egg. The 'Seafood Ramen' was also a lovely, light, yet flavouful broth that does not scrimp on seafood. We did not really have the tummy real estate for a dessert, but if we did, it would definitely be the 'Crispy Chocolate Noodles and Ice Cream'.
