The well-lit, clean café is easy on the eyes, with no-frills black furniture and a dominant brick wall feature. You could settle down here with one of their average beverages to explore the small menu that hides some delicious treats, promising authentic spicing true to its famous Goan origins. The restaurant lists a variety of fish – bangda (mackerel), surmai (kingfish), pomfret, prawns and squids in crunchy, comforting rawa-fried avatars, or slathered with hot-tangy recheado masala from the coastal state. Alternatively, opt for a seafood platter, which brings you smaller portions of the above to enjoy in a larger group. The café is an excellent visit for breakfast (or egg lovers in general), too, with cheese, mushroom and masala omelette options, besides a sumptuous egg bhurji with fiery, fragrant xacuti masala – have these with their soft paos. Or then, order the latter with the highly-recommended chicken cafreal, drowned in its melting coriander gravy, with perfectly cooked white meat. There are also a bunch of delicious curry and rice options – of these, the oily, spicy vindaloo prawn with rice works wonders for your appetite. There is just one dessert on the menu – a bittersweet caramel custard – which works well to end this unpretentious, tasty meal.
