A blue door greets you on the Khan Market middle lane, and the first thing you sight after climbing is a blue-lit wine display. But, that is where the colour-theme ends at the Blue Door Cafe, which is straight black and white punctuated by framed art all around. This space feels a little tight, especially with the bar wall and open kitchen also competing for your attention, but sunlight streaming in from the expansive windows make it a great daytime spot. I picked the kitchen’s breakfast special of 'Crepe Bretonne' - pliant buckwheat crepes dressed under a generous bed of cream, cheese and ham crowned by a lone cherry tomato. I needed a few rounds of the pepper grinder to breathe some spark into the dish which could have done with sharper cheese and smoky ham. My next plate featured 2 perfectly poached eggs besides dried out fillets of river-sole and grilled vegetables which were barely grilled at all. A cup of 'Hot Chocolate' just about passed the muster - grainy dredges and chocolate that tasted like it came out of a squeeze bottle.
