Bright and cheerfully compact, The Artful Baker is the sort of neighbourhood bakery that we all desire. Lite Bite Foods and patissier, Sahil Mehta, have decked up this woody little bakery with enough artisanal bread and fine pastry for you to last a month. My loaf of 'Sourdough Bread' had a yeasty sturdiness and the classic 'Croissant' puffed on layers of 'Flaky Buttery Pastry'. 'Macarons' are not the best in the market though, more brittle and dry than a patisserie down the lane. 'Harissa Chicken Vol Au Vent' fumbled with the moisture-soaked pastry sticking together, and gorgeous dome-shaped 'Tango Charlie' did not quite deliver its promised citrus twang to cut through all that rich Hazelnut cream.
