The New Set Menu at Yauatcha with a Bigger and Better Deal

When Yauatcha opened its door 2 years back in Quest Mall in Kolkata, the signboards and promotions read as first Michelin Star restaurant in Kolkata. Where in Kolkata, where chowmien has safely become the second staple food after rice, it created enough buzz and had drawn eyeballs amongst the people of Kolkata. The food has been good since the beginning and it has been able to remain consistent through the taste and service. The Michelin Star somewhere also created an impact in the mindset in the otherwise price sensitive Kolkata and a section of the crowd had a mind block in terms of the pricing of the place. But things are going to change now.

Taste of Yauatcha or TOY, as its popularly known as, is their famous set menu which has now come back revamped with an aim of offering more to the customers at a lower cost and also more importantly, to offer more for the vegetarian guests. The five course TOY meal offers choice of a soup, salad, dim sums, stir fry with rice or noodles and a dessert. While in soup, hot and sour soup with shredded chicken and Asian greens soup with tofu are the perfect appetizers to start with, the salad in mixed salad with lotus root and the dessert in the form of religeuse remains constant, the guest can select between hargao (perhaps the most common dim sum with a prawn filling), chicken and coriander dumpling and chicken and prawn sui mai in the dim sum section, the stir fry offers heong lamb, Szechuan peppercorn and Indian sea bass in black bean sauce. Religeuse is the dessert to look out for where the chocolate choux pastry filled with chocolate is served with hazelnut cream.

If you are a vegetarian, then there are enough equally alluring options to look forward to and perhaps this is the only restaurant with Oriental cuisine in Kolkata, which also has a Jain menu as an option. For the vegetarians, other than the crystal dumpling and the chive dumpling, the star is the truffle and English carrot dumpling other than the stir fry French beans and stir fry vegetable with fragrant chilli sauce.

If there has been a revamp in the TOY, there has been a revamp in the dim sums menu also. The dim sum baskets and platters are now with more options, much to the delight of the guests. Both the vegetarian and the non vegetarian dim sum options are available in steamed and fried varieties and some of the options worth checking out are the turnip cake, baked vegetable puff, corn and asparagus roll, prawn and chive dumpling, sesame prawn toast and crispy duck roll

If you are a lover of Oriental food and Cantonese cuisine, then irrespective of whether you are a vegetarian or non vegetarian, this is the time when you need to check out Yauatcha for these steal deals. What are you waiting for?
