There was a time when this restaurant (not called 1911) was the very heart of Lutyens’ Delhi. The smart set sat on tables in the lawn and drank gin and tonic in the winter. This version comprises two restaurants. One is the hotel’s coffee shop which caters mainly to foreign tourists and features such European favourites as the Croque Monsieur. A little further away is the bar, housed in a vast space that has the feel of a gentleman’s club with many small tables for quiet conversations.
