The sunk-in foyer at the ITC Sonar is far more than a regular reception lobby; it is a full-blown 46-cover tea lounge complete with a bar at one end – the lavish Bay of Bengal lounge. The place is tastefully done with plush beige and brown sofas and marble-top tables, and huge glass windows overlooking the hotel’s signature lily pools lined with palm trees. The menu is short but crisp, with typical high-tea favourites such as scones served with honey, cream and orange marmalade, the chicken and leek puff, and the classic quiche Lorraine.
