Paaka is a spacious café in Tellapur that also doubles up as a market and a cultural centre. Paaka in Telugu means shack, and appropriately enough the dining space is a collection of thatched huts and shacks enveloped in greenery. The food is simple but delicious. The menu draws inspiration from global cuisines but is dominated by local flavours. The produce used is organic and the kitchen follows a zero-wastage policy. Limited portions are prepared fresh, every day. Unfortunately, this also means that large swathes of the menu might be unavailable. During my visit, I found that less than a third of the dishes are available. If there is a particular dish you would like to order, calling in advance and reserving your portion is highly recommended. Paaka also hosts film and documentary screenings, comedy gigs, dance and fitness workshops, and community interactions.
