Mochar Gonto @ Oh! Calcutta

This restaurant is stylishly decorated with a fine-dining ambience, Oh! Calcutta is a wonderful place to start your Bengali culinary journey as it serves the best dishes of traditional Bengali cuisine. The best must-have dishes on the menu include the smoked boneless hilsa and smoked bhekti, which is marinated with mustard paste and green chillies then they wrap it in banana leaf and steamed. One can finish off their meal here with some of Kolkata’s famous sweets such as mishti doi. Also, one must try their home-made date palm jaggery ice cream, for which Oh! Kasturi is one of the best Bengali restaurants in Kolkata. This place has been serving mouth-watering Bangladeshi Bengali food for a very long time now. They have a lot of outlets across the city but to have an authentic Bangladeshi Bengali food experience one-must try and visit the new market branch which is the oldest branch of Kasturi Restaurant. The ambience of this restaurant is simple with wooden furniture and some vintage paintings of Kolkata on the walls.
Though all the items served here are not that delicious but they do serve some amazing dishes at a reasonable price. They have a la-carte menu as well as few platters to offer. Some of the must have dishes include: Chittal Muitha, Kochu Patta Diye Chingri Bhappa, Shorshe Hilisa Bhappa, Kochu Patta Diye Chingri Bhappa.

Kosha Mangsho @ 6 Ballygunge Place

6 Ballygunge Place is one of the top places in Kolkata and is a must visit place to have a bite of authentic Bengali cuisine. It is built in a 100-year-old bungalow which is decorated with pictures of old Kolkata. This place is a perfect spot for a multi-course Bengali meal. Highlights on the menu include dishes like Kosha Mangsho, Daab Chingri. 6 Ballygunge Place was started in 2003 when there were only a few restaurants which used to serve authentic Bengali food. Ever since then they have been serving lavish food and the dishes are curated from the Bengali cookbook of Pragya Sundari Devi. This sweet shop was set up in 1885 and serves both traditional Bengali sweets and innovative variations of sweets. This place serves a huge variety of sandesh flavors like mango and strawberry, milk chamcham, rasmadhuri and kesharia rasmalai. Locals come here especially for their perfectly balanced mishti doi, which is often considered as the best in Kolkata.

Aaheli was established in 1993 & serves authentic Bengali food. It is one of the first fine-dining Bengali cultured restaurant in Kolkata. This is one of the best Bengali restaurants in Kolkata that is serving food which was popularized by the old Bengali zamindari households. Prices here are not affordable for everyone here, but one can definitely come here for occasions, but if you will compare the price with the proportion and the quality of the food then those things totally justify that. Some of the best dishes served here are Kosha Mangsho, Rui Macher Savoury Patishapta.
