Art can be different things for different people. For some, it is a dish nicely done with a beautiful plating or a piece of clothing designed in a unique way while for others a canvas splashed with colours and innovation. The café culture in metropolitan cities is more about the loud music and fancy lights where the essence of cafes is missed out. Contrary to that, on my recent visit to Ahmedabad, the city won my heart with quaint beautiful cafes promoting art. Not only these were beautiful but they served delectable food as well. Here is a list of cafes which are sure to give you a delightful experience!

The Project Cafe, Ambavadi

This yellow house while crossing the Polytechnic road is sure to catch anyone’s attention. Step inside and you will experience a home converted into a beautiful café. The café is told to be designed by the artists and the quirky wall hangings to tables used as canvas showcasing art, the interiors are sure to impress an art lover. They are also a home to many artists who showcases their art here which are up for sale. So, if you are looking for quirky cutlery or a well-designed piece of clothing, you know where to go. You can indulge in a hearty meal from their elaborate menu. I recommend you try their wood fired pizza which is a cheese lover's delight.

Zen Cafe, Navrangpura

Inside the Kasturbhai Lalbhai Campus, the unorganised seating at Zen Café usually full of the college goers is sure to remind you of a scene from a Bollywood flick. The art gallery near the café has stunning art pieces which are a sight to the visitors. There is an underground art gallery named Amdavad ni Gufa which exhibits the artwork of renowned Indian artist Mr. M.F Hussain. Although the menu is limited, the place is usually crowded with individuals of all age. People love dropping by for a cup of hot chocolate and a quick bite. I recommend you try their Tea Cakes with assorted teas. The place closes early at 8 pm and is located at two more locations.

Seva Cafe, C G Road

Have you ever imagined having a meal for free? Well, Head to Seva Café if you are considering that as an option. Homely Interiors and a daily menu which is free of cost is what Seva Café is about. Driven by volunteers, the café is the full of positive vibes and happy hearts. They promote the concept - the joy of giving, and so they have made it optional for one to pay. Being a café where you don’t need to pay, doesn’t hamper the quality of food. The food served is flavourful, homely and made with love. Savour their delectable Gujarati food with a happy vibe.

VarieTea, Gulbai Tekra

At multiple locations in the city, Varietea comes as a blessing for a tea lover. The café is done in a quirky way with informative posters about tea all around and fancy lights. It is one of those places where stopping by for a conversation and good food is a must when you are in the city. One might also want to take tea boxes home as gifts for their special ones. The Brownie Shake and Sloppy Mex Burgers pairs great together. I suggest you to end your meal with their sinful Oreo KitKat Mudpie.

Mocha, Bodakdev

A beautiful café with rustic wooden interiors, Mocha is the place where you should spend your evenings. The walls are painted with great graffiti, which are eye catching. With an elaborate menu at nominal prices, people love coming here for their appetising food. Mocha is a delight for non-vegetarians considering the great variety they offer. One might want to enjoy the great shakes from their menu at their beautiful outdoor seating.
