Almost everyone who has lived in Delhi would have a memory of Triveni café. It has undergone a revamp in the past few years but still retains that charming air which seems to draw in nearly every type of Delhi-ite. There are the art and drama college students and teachers, officegoers from Barakhamba Road, politicians and bureaucrats from Lutyen’s Delhi, couples on a date and old-time friends catching up over chai. Effortlessly settling with its sunny terrace and sky-blue interiors, Triveni serves a small but cleverly thought out selection of food. There are small bites, snacks and rotating Thalis – all very Indian and pocket-friendly. On my last visit, I grabbed the festive 'Navratra Thali' with crisp 'Kuttu Pooris', 'Samak Ke Chawal', 'Kachhe Kele Ka Kofta', 'Coconutty Singhare Ki Kadi', 'Kadoo Ki Sabzi', 'Singhara Halwa' along with their decadent 'Chocolate Brownie' and a freshly brewed 'Iced Tea'. Also, recommended is the homely 'Mutton Thali', 'Gunpowder Ragi Idlis', 'Palak Patta Chaat' and 'Shammi Kababs'.
