Right in the middle of Connaught Place and very easy to access by car or on foot, Surang is a part of the ageing Hotel Alka. On the minus side, it has not had a face-lift or kept itself abreast of the latest trends in the city; on the plus side, its food is great and consistent, the ingredients being of very high quality. It is precisely because it is the oldest eatery in the locality and it has collected a loyal band of customers who would not dream of dining anywhere else. Some of the vegetarian options are the same as those that are being made downstairs in the signature Vega restaurant − paneer cutlet, aloo chaat and chana chaat are old-fashioned treats that you will not find anywhere else in the city.
