I was happy when this restaurant opened this new outlet. The first one in HSR layout is quite a hike for me. What made me even happier is to walk in and see Chef June, whom we have known for quite a few of his stints with popular Japanese restaurants in the city. There are a couple of ways you can work out your meal here – sit by the teppanyaki counter and go a la carte, or if you have the appetite for it, go with their massive set course menu, available in vegetarian and meat. Else choose to go with the a la carte and make the best of the air-conditioned indoors. Chef June makes some great sushi and so do try the 'Dragon Maki Rolls'. Looks pretty and is quite the mouthful. The 'Japanese Mitzukan Salad' as well as the 'Seafood Salad' is substantial and make for a really nice meal anytime. The 'Tom Yum Soup' and definitely the 'Miso Soup' are worth trying here. Pair an 'Udon Noodles in Chicken with some Red Snapper'. The chef will toss it up in the sauce of your choice with a spice level according to your preference. The 'Yaki Soba Noodles' or the 'Chicken Fried Rice with Garlic Butter Lemon Chicken' or even the 'Chicken Adobo' make for good combinations. For those of you who want the more familiar dishes, there are Thai curries, Hunan and Sczechwan gravies to choose from in fish, meat, vegetable and poultry. Desserts are surprisingly not Asian by any measure, but you have enough choice to wrap up a good meal. For those of you planning to go with the set menu, there is a lot of food that will come your way and while for the meat eaters, you have a nice range, it is the vegetarian options that I was amazed by – 'Scallion Tofu', 'Mock Vegetables' in the form of 'Drums of Heaven in Butter Garlic or Spicy Lemon Grass', 'Mock Satays' and more.
