Some clichés can be comforting, like The Great Kabab Factory’s longstanding set meal formula. For a flat price, you get a lavish spread comprising a vegetable or meat preparation, fragrant biryani, a selection of desserts and unlimited kababs – four things every epicure has a soft spot for. Over several years and branches, this restaurant has been delving deeper into the kabab, exploring new potential within it. In the rustic, dimly-lit setting of the Pune outlet too, you get a plethora, served with flavourful chutneys and condiments – make sure you get several helpings of their galouti and burrah which are iconic. If you are lucky you might even get some lip-smacking bater (quail). Spoil your sweet tooth silly with some soft rasmalai, halwa – which I have had in almond and beetroot (!) flavours on two different occasions, or the usual gulab jamun and kulfi.
