When the restaurant first opened in Pune, it took everyone by a surprise of how good the Asian food here is, mainly the Sushi which was generally a dream to eat. Now, these guys have broken that bubble and introduced Sushi, which is mind-boggling for most sushi lovers. That is the first reason why people drive down to ‘Shizu’ as they call it, then there are a few more. The Sushi menu includes over 20 different choices of Rolls, some of them are classics while some of them are quite experimental. The classic range includes the ‘California Roll’, ‘Avocado Salad’, ‘Dynamite Shrimp’ and the ‘Spicy Tuna Roll’, they are so well done you might just end up returning because of them. When you are probably bored of the regulars, that is where the unconventional ones come in. The thought of Sushi rolled in Spinach Sheets? Yes, they have one which is stuffed with carrots, asparagus, cream cheese and wasabi mayo. The ‘Mud Crab Roll' and ‘The Peruvian’ are the interesting ones from the "real sushi" selection. The Mud Crab comes with Tobiko and light mayo and the latter has Tuna Ceviche with a delicious lemon chilli mayo and cilantro. These are very well enjoyed with some of the fine Asian inspired cocktails on the menu or the sake. You can get a good load of other Asian curries, noodles and rice which are priced decently well but they do feel a little upmarket. The interesting thing is that the Soups have a portion for 1 or portion for 4, so the latter is a massive bowl of broth, meat and veggies depending on what you choose. But, the talking point is their ‘Curry Bowls’ that include Thai Green Curry, Oink Oink Rice and some more. They are all-in-one bowl curries with rice and noodles of relevant kinds. So, the 'Thai Green Curry' is mixed with 'Steamed Rice'. The 'Oink Oink Rice' conspires of Pork Belly, Bacon and Sausage served with scallions and rice which is cooked with reduced pork. The desserts are also pretty decent but not as good as their food I would say. The ‘5-Spiced Crème Brulée’ is truly unique and quite refreshing. The other desserts that they have are pretty regular - 'Chocolate Mud Cake' and 'Red Velvet Cake'.
