When a restaurant replaces the iconic Olive at Mahalaxmi Racecourse, naturally one steps in with high expectations. The spacious outdoor and indoor seating areas, high-octane bar and chic décor are eye-catching and exude a warm vibe. The menus are exhaustive and there is a separate one for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Apparently in the kitchen too, the sections are strictly divided. The bar menu is equally an exercise in choices. Oriental delights like 'Asian Grills', 'Dim Sum', 'Cheung Fun', 'Maki Rolls', 'Sashimi', main course and desserts are what you can expect. The 'Crispy Prawn Cheung Fun' or 'Silky Rice Noodle Roll' boasts of the perfect elasticity and simply melts in the mouth. The 'Chicken Crystal Dumpling' pales in comparison. Vegetarians can gorge on the unique 'Miso Aubergine Gunkan' and the pan-seared 'Forest Mushroom Bun'. For the mains try the 'Lemongrass Flat Noodles' with crunchy 'Monkey Nuts' and 'Pork Spare Ribs in Spicy Black Bean Sauce'. The 'Shredded Chicken in Black Pepper' disappoints. Among desserts, the 'Lemongrass Panna Cotta' with subtle flavours stands out. The food here is replete with fresh, high-quality ingredients, yet all dishes do not hit the right spot. It is the service here which mars the dining experience as the staff is inarticulate and not well-trained.
