Zen is easily the finest Oriental restaurant in town. Zen has built its award-winning reputation under a string of expat master chefs and the menu emphasises the diversity and sophistication of new-age Oriental cuisine. The 80-cover fine-dining outfit now has Thai ex pat Chef Ananchai at the rudder, and the food, everything from Burmese fish cake curry to recipes picked from the villages of Thailand, is outstanding. An open kitchen bar with elevated seats forms the nucleus of what is essentially an interactive culinary theatre, the décor, soothing and classy, has an unmistakable Oriental touch with batten screens and tables laid with straw mats. The burnt-garlic scented dim sum clear soup, crisp duck tossed in a sweet and spicy honey chilly sauce and the lamb with pickle chilly and oyster sauce are fantastic picks. For deserts, try Zen’s signature Fried Ice Cream.
