This 70-seater, little over four months old, is Tollywood A-lister Dev’s debut venture in the restaurant business and, on most evenings, the place has been running houseful (quite a few turn up in the hope of spotting the star or his celeb friends). The retro-esque interiors, with its distressed wooden furniture and whitewashed exposed brick walls adorned with framed movie posters and mammoth wall murals of cinematic greats (such as Satyajit Ray, Uttam Kumar, Suchitra Sen and the restaurant’s superstar owner) are impressive. Vintage filming equipment –analogue cameras, spotlights, etc. – are strewn around the place (confirms the cine-connection) and a ceiling installation created with suspended books and LPs adds a quirky touch. The bar stands at the rear end of the L-shaped dining zone; plus, there is a separate lounge area complete with comfy sofas, perfect for adda sessions. The multicuisine menu – mostly Indian and Continental with a smattering of Oriental numbers – is neither quirky nor adventurous. Instead, it packs in popular favourites such as bacon-wrapped prawns, beer-batter fried fish, kababs, and the obligatory biryani. The smoked chicken breast that comes with a drizzle of fiery red pepper coulis, some mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables on the side makes for a hearty dish.
