The Wall was perhaps the first freestanding Pan Asian restaurant in the city that offered a wide-ranging Japanese spread. The restaurant (an enterprise of Savourites Hospitality who also own the specialty Bengali restaurant chain 6 Ballygunge Place) launched in 2007 with an extensive menu designed by Chef Sushanta Sengupta (also one of the owners) that had dishes from across the Far East. The focus however, was on Japanese food, and their tempuras and yakitori continue to pull crowds. The Nigiri sushi (salmon, tuna, prawn or crab stick) comes especially recommended. However, the menu moves beyond Japanese to include everything from Indonesian nasi goreng and Vietnamese vegetable rolls to fantastic Thai crab cakes and perennial favourites such as la mai kai. Plus, try the duck five spice, it is good.
