A tiny 20-cover café with funky interiors and a tasty spread, Cloakroom is less than a year old and already a hit with the city’s young brigade (perhaps it helps that the owner is all of 22 herself). The place is imaginatively done with hand-drawn doodles and funky travel-themed posters on the walls, bright red and yellow furniture and quirky props strewn around. An entire wall is laminated with chalkboard with a hand-written menu that lists quirky names such as From Davy Jones Locker, which is grilled fish with a choice of garlic butter, harissa or lemon cream sauce, and Bowl Full of Soul – basically curry (chicken or vegetables) and rice. Plus, there are perennial favourites such as Kolkata-style fish fry, barbecued chicken wings and sausage, and cheese-stuffed omelette to choose from. The grilled chicken doused in a creamy paprika sauce is a good pick or go for their popular country fried chicken served with rice and cheese sauce. For desserts, there is the signature Sunken Chocolate Pudding. However, the place could do with some maintenance work (but that too is on the cards, we hear).
