This specialty chain of Chinese restaurants was musician Debaditya Chaudhury’s debut venture in the restaurant business (he also owns the stellar Awadhi joint, Oudh 1590, along with his brother). Chowman started out with a tastefully-done 20-seater on Golf Club Road in 2010, almost six years on, it is one of the most popular Chinese eateries in town with six outlets doing brisk business on the strength of a menu incredible in its variety. The spread is one that appeals to the new age diner, without straying too far from the tried-and-tested. Classics such as kung pao chicken, crab meat rice and roast chilli pork are good picks, or try the more innovative entries such as the crispy honey fried wantons stuffed with chicken or prawns or prawns in mountain chilli sauce, their signature bestsellers. Plus, there are good options for vegetarians, too.
