For years Blue & Beyond, the rooftop resto-bar of the Lindsay hotel (bang opposite New Market’s iconic clock tower), has been a favourite haunt for many in the city (since long before it got its ritzy makeover a couple of years ago). Now it has fancy seating, wooden cabanas with plush sofas, a chic air-conditioned cocktail bar and a more elaborate menu, but it is the stunning views of the city from its alfresco dining area that remain its chief draw. The place has a loyal clientele and is quite a hit with Western tourists (many of them stay on the nearby Sudder Street). The menu pitched as ‘world cuisine’ is a mix of Indian, Asian and Continental. The mahi Afghani, a saffron-tinged kabab made with fresh bekti, is one of their best dishes. Or try the chicken teriyaki, strips of chicken breast fillet on sticks, tossed in a slightly sticky sauce.
