If it is Bengali, then the top recall is 6 Ballygunje Place. After their revamp a couple of years back, they have taken the decor a few notches higher. Black and white checkered floor tiles, green wooden beams, reproduction of rural art and large hand fans from the yore; this place is a visual delight as you enter it and experience it over your time spent while dining. With an exquisite a la carte menu, the food is all about giving the best of Bengali cuisine to the diners. The a la carte menu is just too long and if you are confused about what to order, you may go for the buffet which, more or less covers the best of their dishes. 'Narkel Postor Bora' is a brilliant starter where the coconut is finely grated with the poppy seed paste and has a sweet and earthy balance in the mouth with the grainy texture of the poppy seed. 'Kosha Mangsho' is definitely one of the best that you will find in the city - not overly spicy but correctly balanced with a thick sauce. During the Hilsa festival, they serve some classics and some very unique hilsa dishes which are worth trying.
