The popular restaurant in Jubilee Hills is named after the horse gram delicacy which is so popular in coastal Andhra Pradesh. The restaurant has a simple décor, except for the private dining areas which have been given the look of village shacks. The huge and varied menu has traditional festival dishes as well as home delicacies from the two Telugu states. Unlimited amounts of 'Ulavacharu', the popular horse gram dish is served on the table as an accompaniment to the ordered food. Among the long list of starters, 'Konaseema Kodi Vepudu', a spicy pepper chicken fry from the coastal region and 'Bamboo Chicken', a tribal dish from Aruku Valley where marinated chicken is stuffed inside bamboo pods and roasted are not to be missed. Vegetarians can try 'Mokkajana Vepudu', the corn counterpart. Telugu food is extremely spicy. However, Ulavacharu tones down the spices in your preparation on request. Talk to the waiters, as the menu does not offer any clue on the spice level of the dishes listed.
