Saligao Stories by Anisha Hassan Mendes is an ode to the tradition of long forgotten memories. She has carefully and painstakingly curated this 150-year-old mansion into a pictorial storyline. Nuzzled in the bylanes of the pass-through village of Saligao stands a house filled with stories. As one enters the somnolent balcao with old flooring and artefacts from yesteryears, one is greeted with a sala converted tastefully into a lounge relaxation area with old cane furniture and high ceilings. Sip on a highly recommended 'Spiced Rum Mandarin Mojito' and peer outwards - the seating area is grand with a beautiful grotto for the company. The menu is an ode to Hyderabadi cuisine that steals the show. Lest not forget the Goan dishes that grace the menu and a global cuisine inspired by Siddharth Hegde. Dive straight in with the starter snacks - 'Shahi Raan' is marinated with a hint of coastal spice and slowly cooked on coal. A must-have for a large group. For the herbivore in you, the 'Dahi Ke Kebab' are succulent dumplings of hung curd and cheese mixed with freshly ground masala. The 'Crab Sukkha' is tossed in coconut and homemade masala and finished with avakai chutney for the coastal feel. Sign off with the 'Khubani Ka Meetha' - apricots from Hyderabad stewed and served with fresh cream.
