A rather unassuming place on the Calangute-Baga stretch is Cavala run by Marius Monteiro. He has tastefully converted an old-fashioned house into an electrifying hangout thronged by youngsters and young at heart alike, locals and expats. A must-do on the party destination scene; the place is packed to the rafters both in the courtyard as well as the cosy bar inside. A great place for live music − the enthusiasm creates a space for enjoyment and lets one get footloose. Attributed to keeping the spirit of ‘retro’ alive, Marius has live bands playing there thrice a week. A well-stocked bar plies all night long and the kitchen dishes out some crowd favourites − prawn masala fry and beef chilly. For the vegetarians, the potato mushroom xacutti with the local poie is not to be missed.
