Get Your Money’s Worth Of Champagne At These Brunches In Chennai

For most of us, there is no such thing as cheap champagne. If it pops below the price of an entry level Single Malt, it is probably just sparkling wine or Prosecco. The real deal is made with great care and skill from grapes grown in Champagne, France. Frankly, I have not had (afforded) enough Champagne to write about its complexities. I try to make up for lost time though.

Where is the most affordable bottle of Champagne in the city? At a Champagne brunch. Do not expect a grand Cuvee, but everyone got to start, somewhere right?

A standard Champagne brunch (taxes included) in Chennai is about two-thirds of what you would pay for a bottle at Tasmac. See the math? I have even known gentlemen who have downed a couple over cheese and crackers. Get your money’s worth of Champagne at these brunches in Chennai.

Spectra, The Leela Palace

USP – Panoramic sea-view. Best multi-cuisine spread in the city with dedicated counters.

Champagne – GH Mumm Cordon Rouge NV. Crunchy, notes of fruit and alkaline. Pair with grilled seafood.

Insider Tip – Book those sea-view tables a few days in advance.

China XO, The Leela Palace

USP – Unparalleled Dimsum brunch. More of a Dimsum masterclass.

Champagne – GH Mumm Cordon Rouge NV. Crunchy, notes of fruit and alkaline. Pair with Hargow.

Insider Tip – Consider rationing out each course. There will be enough variety to feed you twice over.

Seagull, Vivanta by Taj Fisherman’s Cove

USP – Only Champagne brunch on ECR, after the SC ruling.

Champagne – Phillipe Gonet Blanc de Blanc Brut Signature. Dry and slightly alkaline. I’d skip the Kuzhambu and reach for a cheese board.

Insider Tip – You can take a post-brunch walk on the Kovalam beach.

Anise, Taj Coromandel

USP –Unarguably, the most inexpensive Champagne Brunch in the city. Doesn’t skimp on the spread though.

Champagne – GH Mumm Cordon Rouge NV. Crunchy, notes of fruit and alkaline. I liked it alongside Thai food.
