Bangalore has quite a happening music scene and these 6 places are among the best for you to enjoy a show and get yourself

OPUS Club

OPUS in Sarjapur has a lovely stage area that you can sit around. The acoustics are great, even if you are dealing with a packed house. The lighting structure adds to the ambience. With a well-stocked bar for you to choose from, the choices you have to make are from the food menu. Think of the Onion Rings and the Chilli Cheese Toast with sautéed mushroom. The Chicken Tenders, Chargrilled Skewers, and, the Prawn Ghee Roast is especially good with a chilled beer. The Club Meals are great if you are dining on your own – try the Mutton Roganjosh or the Pork Vindaloo with Rice or Sanna. The dessert menu is simple yet satisfying.

Blue Frog

The Blue Frog stage is a cosy one and if you are looking for the best acoustics, then you should find a space for yourself on the mezzanine, where it is at its best. Else closer to the bar on the ground floor. Once you have made your choice from the bar, the Shotgun Chicken should be your first choice, followed by the Beer Batter Fish. If you are a group, then the Meat Platter is a good choice. If fusion is your thing, then the Naanza – naan, Blue Frog’s sauce and a range of combinations may be up your alley. There are options in meat and vegetarian.

Hard Rock Cafe

Hard Rock Cafe has been my go-to place for gigs especially because it is a kid-friendly space even on gig nights. Service is quite prompt but you have to ensure that your cover charge is added to your bill or many times that may be skipped. The food is always good – be it the Loaded Nachos, the original Hard Rock Onion Rings, or their Combo Platters. For those who may not want to go all the way, the filling salad options are great. But if you want to go the whole hog – you have options that quite literally let you do that! From their legendary Burgers to their Hickory Smoked BBQ options, go wild on the menu.

Byg Brewski Brewing Company

Byg Brewski Brewing Company, Sarjapur has a lovely elevated stage placed strategically above the bar and overlooking the Koi pond. The menu is massive catering to every kind of taste – from the most finicky to the most indulgent. There are so many options to choose from – the Hunter Style Dumplings and Piggy Chops Shumai are great options. The Hot Black Prawns are brilliant with a beer or any cocktail that the bar rustles up for you. The Tandoor section has a wide range of options and what you should try the Soya Mince Seekh and the Classic Chicken Tikka.

Fandom

Fandom is the latest stage that every musician would like to be seen on. Space is brilliant as are the acoustics and its central location is what suits everybody. The food menu offers some great options and everything is taken down on a tab and cross-verified by the staff before it hits your table. The Beer Battered Onion Rings are a superb choice to start with and the BBQ Wings will have you asking for seconds The Crispy Corn Cheese Bombs are nice as is the Paneer Koliwada. You could try the Paneer Wasabi Tikka or the Wasabi Flavoured Green Peas Fry if you are up to experimenting. The Spring Rolls in meat and vegetarian options are quite filling.

BFlat

This is one of the oldest venues around when it comes to the live music scene. For many an amateur band, you are said to have landed if you score a gig here. Gig nights can get quite cramped for space but that does not deter service in any way. Try the Jalapeno Cheese Bites and the Chicken Popcorn, to begin with. Something more substantial will be the Golden Sesame Prawns. Another version, the Tawa Fried Prawns are a great pick too. The Sweet and Spicy Wings here are a nice treat. I usually order the Roast Pork Chilli and have that as is, with my beer. A personal indulgence every time. The Burgers are quite filling.
