The Top 7 Places to Get Hot Chocolate in Bengaluru

A mugful of decadence

A mugful of decadence

It must be the weather, because there is an odd craving for hot chocolate that I cannot seem to ignore. Plus, it is Christmas and all that, a time for all of us to indulge in a bit of decadence.

Sitting at Glen’s Bakehouse, on 100 Ft Road, especially at the section that faces the road, a mug of steaming hot chocolate with perhaps something to nibble on can be extremely comforting. It is nothing over the top, just a simple cup, but they have managed to get the formula right, at least most of the time.

I also remember having a fantastic hot chocolate at Red Fork Deli a while ago. If you find it on the menu, do not miss it. They do a good job! In fact, if you head to Olive Beach for their Christmas brunch, you can check out their spiced hot chocolate, which is one of the best things on the menu.

Smally’s Resto Café also has hot chocolate on their menu, which, in my opinion, goes really well with the burgers, and do not ask why. There is something sinful about a mug of that, and good bread packed with meat.

A Hole Lotta Love Café calls it cocoa, and that with waffles can be a sugar overload, but this is the festive season and who am I to judge? Plus, the ambience really sets the mood. In fact, even Dyu Art Café has pretty decent hot chocolate. It is rich enough, is not too sweet (you will not really need to add sugar), and you have two of those!

One of my favourites is at Café Max in Indiranagar. It is pure dark chocolate melted down, and has cream and milk added to it. Do not add sugar; this one deserves to be had just the way it is served.

The Choco Parisien at Café Noir at UB City is yet another treat; rich chocolate, steamed milk, and whipped cream on top makes this a winner for sure. To eat something with it, a quiche is a good order.

San Churro Café in Banashankari has a range of hot chocolates to choose from. There is one that comes with a bit of chilli, for added bite, and a few flavoured ones. Add marshmallows, whipped cream or get an order of churros to go with your cup.

On that note, I am off to get mine.
