The reason comfort food is so popular is that it is downright delicious! What is more satisfying than biting into a juicy burger stuffed between a soft bun along with all the trimmings? Burgers, no matter what the choice of meat or fillings, is one of Mumbai's favourite things to gorge on and despite several restaurants serving them, we picked our favourites. These restaurants in Mumbai are where you are guaranteed a phenomenal burger.
Woodside Inn - Not only are the burgers supreme at your friendly neighbourhood bar ( they've got outlets in Colaba and Andheri ) but they host their annual beer & burger festival ( available till 12th August ) which features some very interesting burgers from different parts of the world. In case you can't catch the festival and want to still sample their burgers then their signature Double Cheese Tenderloin Burger is a great pick as is their Rock Shrimp Burger. For a meatless option, their Sriracha Red Lentil and Carrot Burger work well.
Smoke House Deli - This cafe works well when you can't decide what you want to eat but if it's a burger you're caving then you're in for a treat. If you're looking for a classic meaty juicy burger then the Smoke House Deli Baconator is a perfect choice. It's a tenderloin patty wrapped with oak smoked bacon, mustard and a bacon-infused mayo. It's probably the best seller from their burgers but the Beer Batter Fish with peri peri and malt mayo is also a great pick.
The Table - A restaurant the city is tremendously proud of is The Table. It has consistently been delighting its loyal patrons with a menu featuring dishes from around the world with no specific cuisine in mind. This fine dining restaurant is usually not what you would think of for a comfort dish like a burger but then you would miss the chance of enjoying a fabulous one. The Table Burger is a work of art. It's a tenderloin patty served in a brioche bun with caramelized onions, fries, emmental and sharp cheddar cheese, sautéed mushrooms, bacon and a fried egg. It's quite a meal but so worthy of all your calories and appetite.
Hard Rock Cafe - At one point in time the Hard Rock Cafe was the only spot in town where you knew you'd get an insanely good burger. Today there are many restaurants to satisfy that craving but none that match up to the massive Hard Rock Burgers. The Original Legendary Burger is our favourite with smoked bacon, cheese and crispy fried onion rings but the Barbeque Bacon Cheese Burger is another special one. If you can't handle the red meat the Legendary Chicken Burger or the Tandoori Spiced Chicken Burger work well. An interesting vegetarian option is the Sri Lankan Veg Burger which is a cottage cheese patty infused with Sri Lankan spices and served with a mozzarella and curry flavoured aioli.
British Brewing Co - While this is essentially a pub, during lunch time it works well as a spot to take your kids for a meal ( they're only allowed at lunch, not dinner ) because the menu here is fabulous with choices ranging from pizza, pasta, tandoori dishes, appetizers and of course the universally loved burgers. If you've really worked up an appetite then ask for the Nasty BBC Burger which is a massive meal of two burger patties, one chicken the other lamb, topped with a fried egg, strips of bacon and served with potato wedges.
Sliders & Fries - This home delivery outlet has fast become a go-to for a classic combo of burgers and fries. Their USP is, of course, their sliders which are mini versions of a regular burger making them easy to eat and of course you can eat more than just one. The Mac & Cheese Cheeseburger is what we love the most.
