Supreme Taste of Yauatcha with New Options for Dinner in Kolkata

A set menu with equal options for vegetarian and non-vegetarian and add on to that, a specially crafted tea-based cocktail. There is soup, salad, dim sum, stir-fry, staple and a dessert. This is what Yauatcha has on the offering for its diners from Monday to Saturday. I am sure no one can ask for more. Since the time Yauatcha has opened in Kolkata, one of the perceptions that has been around is the steep price point. However, this set menu will break that myth.

Let us start with what is the new special addition to the menu. Yauatcha is a dim sum tea house and in line with it, they have paired with Ballantine's whisky and Ging tea house, one of the oldest tea plantations in Darjeeling. The result was a new tea blend which is the key ingredient of Golden Ging.

Golden Ging

Golden Ging, the cocktail, has got Ballentines finest, the second flush of Ging tea, which is exclusively found in India in Yauatcha, passion fruit and orange bitters. The other options are either wine or a mocktail.

Mixed Salad with Lotus Root

One can start with Hot and Sour Soup with Chicken or Mushroom. Then a beautiful fresh salad mixed with imported lotus roots comes in, which has 3 types of lettuce leaves, pomelo segments, pomegranate, with a dressing made of lemongrass and ginger juice and the surprise element is pumpkin shavings. There are 4 options for dim sums in both vegetarian and non-vegetarian section. One can opt for 2 choices of dim sums and each option comes with 3 dim sums. If one speaks about Yauatcha, then it will be unkind to not to speak about the dimsums.

Pork Char Sui Bun

Pork and Prawn Shui Mai

In non-veg, there is Hargau, Chicken and Coriander Dumpling, Pork and Prawn Shui Mai and Pork Char Sui Bun. Each one is distinct in taste and texture and are their popular dishes.

Poached Peking dumpling

The vegetarian section has a new addition called Poached Peking dumpling. No worries, it is not Peking duck but a Mock Meat which has similar taste and texture and is quite deceiving. Point to be noted, it is simply brilliant in taste with strong notes of umami from the soy dipping. This mock meat is imported, completely vegetarian and for the first time, it is getting used in a dim sum in India.

Steamed Indian Sea Bass in Spicy Black Bean Sauce

One can order one amongst 3 options in stir fry from either vegetarian or non-vegetarian. In the non-veg section, Kung Pao Chicken, Stir Fry Lamb with Black Pepper and Steamed Indian Sea Bass in Spicy Black Bean Sauce all are winners in their own merit and selecting one amongst the 3 is a tough choice. The vegetarians have a nice array of stir fries to choose from too.

Ho Fan Noodles with Chicken

Staples like Egg Fried Rice with Long Beans or Ho Fan Noodles with Chicken or Spice Ramen Noodles, with comes in formidable portion size are more than enough to satiate your taste buds and your hunger.

By the end of this meal, you would not have any space left for dessert. But can you miss it?

Chocolate Pebble

Red Fruit Fromage

After all, the choice of dessert is from their famous Chocolate Pebble, Hazelnut Mousse, Pecan and Coffee Delice or Red Fruit Fromage. This is a wholesome tasty dinner, which is a fantastic draw for people who are lovers of Chinese food.

Timings: 07:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Monday to Saturday

Cost: INR 1388 for vegetarian and INR 1488 for non-vegetarian
