Most of us are fond of Asian food, but when you really think about it, Asian cuisine in itself is a broad spectrum that includes several regional cuisines from the East and Southeast regions of Asia. And although food from all Asian countries is quite delectable, it’s still possible that as a foodie, you might lean towards one regional Asian palate more than the others, and that’s where the culinary marvel of a place- Foo Powai comes into play.

Founded by the Tham brothers, Foo is borne through a family legacy of Asian hospitality that offers over 120 Japanese, Chinese, and mixed Asian small plates.

The menu here is an ode to Japanese culinary delights, yet offers an array of tapas which include Chinese, Japanese, and mixed Asian, trendy small plates. Expertly crafted sushi, dim-sum baskets, salads, tempuras, stir-fries, and delicious grills, is what you can expect here, all while you sip on their eclectic range of well-crafted cocktails.

Focussed on delivering a sensorial experience that is as visually appealing as it tantalizing to the tastebuds, this stellar dining destination has become quite the cult favorite amongst the gourmands of the city because of its unparalleled gastronomy that marries classic Asian hospitality with much-loved flavors and a chic ambiance – all of which have been created through expertise & innovation, & delivered with love.

Zeroing in on one best delicacy from their exceptional Asian curation is an impossible task, so what we are going to do instead is list down some of our favorite classic preparations from Foo Powai that in our honest opinion, every Asian food connoisseur ‘must try’ when here.

Fresh, zesty, and aptly named 'Super Foo' Salad, features the wholesome mix of kale, avocado, edamame, quinoa, chia seeds, goji berries, in yuzu miso dressing. This power-packed yet delicious preparation is just the perfect thing to begin your Foo experience and totally worth all the hype.

Foo is a total treasure trove of dim sum & dumplings. The sheer variety available on their menu is enough to boggle your mind. Although all the options are just great, we absolutely adore their 'Charcoal Har-Gow, Gold Dusted Dumplings', which is just as delicious as it is gorgeous.

From their ‘Small Plates’ section on the menu, we highly recommend the ‘Steamed Sweet Potato with Chilly Black Bean Sauce’. This is indeed a star Foo offering featuring the perfect blend of earthy & velvety goodness of sweet potato and the umami brilliance of the chilly black bean sauce!

If you are a Sushi lover, then dining at Foo is literally going to be a treat for you. Our favorite from their extensive selection is the 'Peruvian Lobster Roll', a unique fusion delicacy wherein spicy lobster tempura crisps come together with black sesame and yellow Anticucho sauce to create a fabulous preparation that is sure to tickle your taste buds with its nuanced flavor palate.

Moving on to the mains, the most unmissable preparation that you absolutely must try is the 'Foo Blue Butter Japanese Fried Rice', a one-of-a-kind Foo invention, which is a combination of their signature butterfly pea shade in sticky Kokuho rice, tossed with carrots, baby corn, shiitake mushrooms, garlic and oodles of butter!

And to tie it all together, end your meal on a sweet note by sampling their decadent nutty beauty Hazelnut dome that is their classic 'Snickerzz' dessert.
