Latest Recipe’s decor is unpretentious and non-assuming. It will never have the air of a restaurant that entices possible noteworthy others, but we cannot deny that it is constantly clean and vibrant. Despite how busy it was on this visit, within a few minutes of placing our orders, the gratis kimchi was delivered to the table. Korean food isn’t Korean food without Kimchi and this one is very tangy. I could tell it had been pickled well. I would have loved it though if a few more side dishes or banchan (as in Korean) was offered. Usual Banchan comprises of bean sprouts, zucchini, and spicy cucumber, kimchi, and Korean omelette or soft fish cakes. 

Another few minutes and my mild Samgyetang aka chicken soup with jujube arrives comfort hot in a bowl. The chicken is silky soft and dissolves with each bite and the soup is rich and chock full of broth goodness. I also love the Gimbap, Korean sushi with crab stick and tuna; a delicious bite of heaven. The Bulgogi is less exciting as the meat is a wee bit sweeter than it should be and I am not a big fan of sweet in my savoury if the balance isn’t perfect, but that’s just me. That said, they steamed it long enough so that the meat just fell off the bones with little effort.

Another dish I tried was the Classic Bibimbap (my all-time favourite when I go out for Korean) and I quite liked this chicken fried rice with its many ingredients getting a different taste with each bite you mix it all up. Ideally, I would love it in a hot stone bowl though. The Pajeon aka Korean pancakes are an absolute must try here Case in point: it is seasoned to almost perfection and has a wonderful crispy yet soft texture. And yes the Jap Chae or the Cellophane noodles with soya and sesame oil with a choice of meat or vegetables is stellar and you will notice quite a few dishes on the menu here that you normally would not find at similar food festivals. The Red Bean Paste jelly for dessert is a big no-no, opt for the Poached Pear instead!
