The economic impact of the pandemic has been devastating on our vulnerable communities, exacerbated by schools being shut and directly impacting children who depended on the Mid-Day Meal they received every day. To counter this problem, Akshaya Patra has begun to deliver Happiness Kits to children enrolled in government schools. Every Kit contains dry rations, educational supplies, and hygiene products for children, including sanitary packs for girls. The cost of each Happiness Kit amounts to Rs. 550. And all you have to do to be a part of this generous drive is to support your favorite restaurants on EazyDiner. By doing so, you sponsor food and other basic necessities for children in need.

With your support, we can deliver happiness to children across the country, preventing them from suffering from malnutrition, and their families from hunger, while allowing them to continue to learn and grow. Because when you donate, you don’t just help a vulnerable child, you also save on tax. Donations above Rs 500/- will be eligible for 50% tax exemption under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.

Where schools remain closed, Happiness Kits are being distributed to Akshaya Patra’s beneficiary children in lieu of Mid-Day Meals. The ingredients in a Happiness Kit cover the nutrition, immunity, hygiene, and education of children.

Prior to the nationwide lockdown Akshaya Patra fed 1.8 million children every school day. As schools begin to open, students are going back to school eager for a hot, nutritious lunch every day – for a significant number of them, the only wholesome meal they eat in a day – and one they’ve missed out on for months.
