Lighting Up the Holidays At Grand Hyatt Goa

This is the time to be holly, jolly and drink loads of wine. The spirit of Christmas is upon us and the lovely folk at the Grand Hyatt, Goa have officially embraced the season of joy, in all its grandeur.

The annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony held at the Confeitaria, is a moment of joy and giving which has carved its niche into one’s heart.

The magnificent Christmas tree, decked with trinkets in accents of gold, silver and red was lit up by 'Jaco Le Roux, General Manager' along with the kids from Care and Compassion Goa-based in Santa Cruz. Care and Compassion - Goa is a safe home for kids coming from not so fortunate backgrounds. A safe home for boys and girls, the organization provides a safe and protected environment for children. With an aim to make sure the kids lead a normal life, the trust puts all efforts to ensure kids receive good food, clothing and an education in schools and colleges. The ultimate goal for Care and Compassion is to help kids live a normal life like any other privileged child in terms of education, food, health, care and love.

An association to give back to the community plays an important part in the philosophy of the hotel chain. Over the last 2 years, the team at Grand Hyatt Goa has invested a lot of time and effort into the organization, helping kids become part of a much bigger family. The kids at Care and Compassion have been a part of a host of fun activities that include, Christmas, Easter and Holi celebrations, sessions on hygiene and personal grooming, sailing, monthly birthday celebrations, cake decorating competition and more.

This showed with each of the 16 kids who came along with delicately handmade ornaments that went up on the tree and the season was further elevated by the young bunch singing Christmas carols that filled the room with delight.

The resort is going grand for the holidays and they have set the tone for the festive season by celebrating this joyous ceremony in a special way. General Manager, Jaco Le Roux, presented two of the kids surprise gifts for creating the most imaginative ornaments.

The evening progressed with an Asian dinner at Asian Wok that featured specials of the all-new menu. Guests were treated to some Sushi, Dimsums, Kung Pao Chicken, Tom Kha Jay, Som Tam Kung, Larb Ghai, Phad Thai Noodles, Pineapple Fried Rice and Thai Curries at their establishment - Asian Wok at the Pool Bar & Grill.

The evening ended on a deliciously sweet note with a Cherry Chocolate Cake, Rum Balls and Mince Pies that had everyone asking for more.
