Microbreweries that Bengaluru loves

Bangalureans love their beer, and when it comes to freshly brewed craft beer, it’s hard for most of us to pass up a mug. Fortunately, the city is dotted with plenty of microbreweries that bring their unique flavours to the table.

Toit on 100 Feet Road is almost like a pilgrimage for most Bangalureans and tourists. While Tintin is one of their most popular brews, the Dark Knight is another good one, though suited more for a slightly more evolved palate.

Biere Club with its old English pub style décor, is yet another hotspot in the city. Both outlets, one on Lavelle Road, and the other in Whitefield, have a range of brews – from Lager, Stout to Ale and even come up with interesting seasonal brews from time to time. These flavours are fairly unique to these pubs. Plus they make interesting beer cocktails; the Wheat Mojito, with wheat beer, white rum, fresh mint, lemon wedges and sugar, is a decent creation.

Arbor Brewing Company on Magrath Road sees Bangalore Bliss (the wheat beer) and Big Ben (pale ale) from a usual total of eight brews, as two of the most popular ones.

Brewsky (in JP Nagar, and on Sarjapur Road) on the other hand has fewer beers but they’re all equally popular. Try any one of these – Hefeweizen, India Pale Ale, Saison or the Summer Ale. We recommend the India Pale Ale if you don’t like very strong flavours. Brewsky also does some interesting beer cocktails by the way.

Murphy’s Brewhouse at The Paul in Domlur has four interesting brews – the Good Golly (a full-bodied lager), Blackbeard (a dark beer with hints of caramel malt and chocolate), Paddy’s Poison (a golden ale, slightly bitter) and Holy Sally (a wheat malt with hints of spices such as cinnamon, pepper, and coriander).

Big Pitcher at the moment has five brews, starting with what they call Adjust Maadi, a blend of Pilsner and pale wheat malt, and ending at Hop Witch – a single-hop mutating ale.

District 6 in Malleswaram does about six brews of which The Chief, a pale wheat malt, garners quite a few votes from the beer drinkers.

Beer Republic on Church Street has pale ale, wheat beer, stout, and lager – four brews that are commonly available in the city.

3 Monkeys Brewpub on Old Madras Road has more than a few brews, but you might not find all of them at the same time. The Belgian Session and the Hefeweizen though are quite popular of the lot.

Well these are our recommendations for now, even though we’re certain that this is not the end of it.
