Our favourite new restaurants launched in 2018 in Mumbai

Every year the city gets a wave of new restaurants but 2018, in particular, has seen some stellar eateries open up. The key word has been a variety with a whole host of different cuisines and techniques being showcased. There were many restaurants and cafes that made their debut this year but we've picked the few that we really think stand out. If you haven't already, make sure you snag a meal at all these restaurants, you won't be disappointed.

Miss T - When two of the most iconic eateries join forces to launch a brand new one it can only mean greatness. The brains behind Colaba's popular Woodside Inn and The Table came together this year calling themselves the Colaba Cartel to bring a fabulous Asian inspired restaurant. Miss T has fabulous cocktails and a stellar menu focusing on South East Asian treats with Chef Jap from Bombras in Goa fine-tuning their menu. A much-needed addition to the neighbourhood and it's turning into one of the best restaurants this year.

Tres Ind - It might be unfair to rank this as one of the best since it's only opened its door in December but the food is outstanding and worth a mention. It's a coursed menu with Indian dishes and flavours but interpreted in the chefs unique style. Tres Ind is the Indian counterpart to the famous restaurant in Dubai and has already created a buzz with its stunning and innovative dishes. Make sure you try their Khandvi ice cream. It sounds ridiculous but the flavours are beautiful. If you're looking for more than just a meal and a real culinary experience then Tres Ind is where you need to dine at.

Sancho's - The new reloaded revamped Sanchos in Khar with tasteful interiors by the very talented Gauri Khan made a huge splashy come back. If you had any doubts about the food their Rags to Riches Guacamole will dispel them all. Pick the one with Truffles and thank us later. Chef Esdras has created a wonderful menu with Mexican flavours and dishes that showcase the cuisine beyond just the usual tex mex choices. He's known as the Taco King back in Los Angeles so the best recommendation is make sure you eat enough tacos!

Hoppumm - This was really the year for smaller eateries to show off their skill. Hoppumm which is a playful twist on a South Indian Appam and a Sri Lankan Hopper which essentially is the same thing. The focus here is on Sri Lankan dishes, of course, all served with their special Hoppumm and the food is delicious and worth the price. Plenty of South Indian joints across the city but not too many trying to show case Sri Lankan cuisine. This gets out vote for a casual relaxed meal.

Izumi - Size doesn't matter and this small little nook in Bandra has come the hottest spot in the city. For folks who crave good Japanese food, this little joint is a haven. There are just a handful of tables and almost always a long serpent-like line but it is worth the wait. The ramen bowls are legendary and the sushi is some of the best in the city. Don't get deterred by the long wait, it's worth it.
