Biryani, kebabs, haleem, double ka meetha and more, there are so many Eid dishes that remain ever popular

Eid-ul-Adha will soon be here. It is celebrated to honour Ibrahim, who, in his devotion to Allah was ready to sacrifice his own son when called upon to do so. This is a day is also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, where families make an animal sacrifice, especially of one that has been reared for a while at home and a feast prepared. This is shared with friends and family, with the primary idea that no one should be hungry on this day. This year, will celebrations being a bit toned down, most sacrifices are being performed with generous donations going to flood afflicted victims from money set aside for Eid. And, since food is something that unites us all, here are some of the stand-out dishes that form part of the feast that you simply must have and 5 restaurants that you can find it at in Bangalore.

The Mutton Biryani

Granted that every home and every restaurant even has its own style of making a biryani. That being said, there is something about this dish that can bring people together like no other. Here are some of the biryanis you should try:

The Galouti Kebab

There are just so many stories on the origin of the Galouti and almost all of them make for a good background tale to go with this delicacy. Hand-pounded meat that is the epitome of melt-in-the-mouth is one that is relished during Eid and all through the year as well. Sure, there are variations in spellings and presentation, but here is where you can have it:

Nalli Nihari

Lamb shanks, slow cooked to fall off the bone goodness. Who would not want to spend some leisurely time with this dish? Here is where you can:

Sheermal

This saffron-tinged Indian bread is just perfect to hold up a Galouti or to soak up some goodness from all those heavy curries of meat. Some of the best ones are at:

At Saffron, Radisson Blu, Race Course Road

At Tiger Trail – Ramada, Shivajinagar

At Sharief Bhai – Koramangala

At Feast India Co. – Cunningham Road

At Aruba’s Lucknowi Sheermal House, Frazer town

Kubani ka Meetha

This slow-cooked apricot dessert comes in a variety of textures and levels of sweetness. I personally prefer the not too sweet, a tinge of sourness and a deep dark brown colour to mine. Here is where you can get some.

At Tabla, Marathahalli

At Pista House, Frazer Town

At Golkonda Chimney, Marathahalli

At Paradise, Indiranagar

At Samaikya, HSR Layout
