Experience the best of the sandwiches in these outlets!

There is nothing better than a good sandwich. Even though it is not the go-to food for Indians but sandwiches are something extremely comforting to some and they would do anything to get a grab of their favourite sandwich. The best part is the layers of flavours in between pieces of bread which reveal themselves with each bite. So, here are the top 10 must-visit places for eating sandwiches that Kolkata has to offer.

The Bakery

Location: The Lalit Great Eastern

We love The Bakery and it is goodies, but the one sandwich which is totally savage is the Monte Cristo. We all have sandwiches with just bread. This one is a classic sandwich and has chicken and Emmental Cheese in between French toast. Served with Potato Wedges and a salad on the side, this sandwich is authentic and fit for the gods.

N. V. Stores

Location: Lindsay Street and Free School Street crossing

This is one of the gems which you cannot miss. They have a whopping 40 varieties of sandwiches. Amazing, is not it? This is just a small kiosk at the corner of New Market, but, they make the most delicious sandwiches. You can choose your bread as well as a filling and they will make it right in front of your eyes. The best part is watching the guy make it and then biting into a filled up hot grilled sandwich. Try the Chicken Cheese and Egg Sandwich and you will not be disappointed.

My Big Fat Belly

Location: 22 Sarat Bose Road

This place dishes out some great burgers and sandwiches. Try the sandwiches from their signature Big Belly witches section. Amongst the many, our pick would be Dolce Vita, which is a sandwich with Pizza Bread, Mozzarella and Cream Cheese served with Fries. For meat lovers, the Murg E Azam with Chicken Tikka, Hari Chutney Mayo and Cheese is blissful.

Flurys

Location: Park Street

The legendary Flurys is somewhat losing its fame and lustre these days. However, there are a few dishes which one can get only at Flurys and they are the best. The Coronation Chicken Filled Croissant Sandwich with curry and mayo is one such dish. The croissant is soft and filled with the curried coronation chicken. Each bite is tantalising to the taste bud.

Samarosa

Location: Infinity Benchmark, Sector 5

This one is a food court outlet with a lot of promise. They have opened recently and are creating some fabulous pizzas and sandwiches. Must-try is the grilled chicken sandwich. So, what is so great about a grilled chicken sandwich? The chicken is cooked in sous vide machine making those chicken pieces so soft that with every bite you can feel the chicken juices in your mouth. The Club Lite Pork Ham Bacon Sandwich is also another must-have for pork lovers.

The Salt House

Location: Shakespeare Point, 4 Shakespeare Sarani

The restaurant with its unmatched ambience and scrumptious food also makes some great sandwiches with their in-house pieces of bread. The Bagel With Smoked Salmon, Cream Cheese and Arugula Sandwich is a classic combination of flavours and the freshness of the ingredients simply sing.

Monkey Bar

Location: Fort Knox, Camac Street

You will never enter Monkey bar expecting to eat a sandwich. Having said that, they have some brilliant Indian pav based combinations but the one sandwich which is a must-try, especially for lovers of the pig, is the Goan Chorizo Pav. We do not need to mention how good a Goan chorizo tastes, but, when stuffed in between pieces of bread with sautéed onions, garlic and tomatoes, it is epic.

The Irish House

Location: Quest Mall

There is something utterly appealing about a good Cuban sandwich. Ham And Cheese is the best combination for any sandwich but the Twisted Cubano from The Irish House is a show stopper sandwich. It has a filling of spicy pulled pork, hickory bbq glazed chicken and yellow cheddar cheese and served with garlic fries and house slaw.

8th Day Cafe

Location: Park Circus Area

Their bagels are good and are all made in-house along with a host of other baked goodies. The combinations of various Bagel Sandwiches are really good and K Town is a sandwich which has been created as a tribute to Kolkata. You can choose your Bagel and the filling is of curried chicken salad and romaine lettuce.
