Overlooking the Dubai Fountain, Thiptara aka Magic at the Water has been aptly named and also because of its food. The key draw is a vivacious assortment of Thai street foods. I start with a green papaya salad. The long reedy papaya slices are crispy, spicy and delicious. The menu lists Stir-Fries, Noodles, Rice and Curry Dishes that showcase specialties from across Thailand. The Red Curry is one of my favourite Thai dishes, and the type served here is chiefly good. The Gai Phad Khing is accomplished as well. The aromatic stir-fry of chicken breast comes studded with fresh ginger, mushrooms, onions, oyster and soya sauce. Finally, there’s Pla Kapong Sam Rod deep fried Seabass painted in mild spices sweet and sour sauce and garnished with fried basil. The fish is unbelievably agile and moist while the outside is crunchy and candied in a sweet, sour, and piquant glaze. End on a sweet note with the Fresh Mango and Sticky Rice with coconut milk, decadent to the core!
