Rule the Rolls has no qualms about its origins: Haji Banda Hasan insists that they are the real Khan Chacha of Khan Market. When a partnership with between Hasan and Navneet Kalra (Dayal Opticals) went awry, the trademark ownership went to Kalra. Regulars will find the familiar celebrity photographs along the walls of this narrow new space, done up smartly in blues and marble. Half of the space is taken up by the open kitchen. I tried nearly every roll on the menu and the pick of the lot was a smokey 'Chicken Tikka Roll' with tender meat. The 'Paneer Roll' was moist but had a slightly chalky flavour while the 'Mutton Roll' but did not quite drip its juices as I bit in like it does next door at Khan Chacha. The 'Kakori Rolls' were absolutely lacklustre in both flavour and texture. I was happy to find 'Haleem' on the menu, but it was nothing like the Hyderabadi version - distinct grains of wheat in a well-seasoned turmeric-ey gruel.
