A collaboration between trendy food company Caara and hip design house Nicobar yields NicoCaara at The Chanakya. Sharing retail space with a full-fledged store, this cafe blends its 2nd-floor corner with an unhurried appeal of a tropical courtyard. Small plates and the relaxed vibe make Nicocaara a great alternative when you want to avoid the chaotic rush downstairs at MKT. Nicocaara’s menu champions locally-sourced seasonal ingredients and its kitchen impress without harking on conscience alone. My 'Garden Green Salad' was deftly balanced between juicy sliced pears and peppery punch from rocket leaves. 'Baked Artisanal Camembert', served with 'Toasted slices of Sourdough', was indulgent but would have benefitted from a pop of contrast. A plate of 'Grilled Chicken Breast' was lean and slightly dry but supplemented by excellent sides of mashed sweet potatoes and sautéed snap peas. I rounded up the meal with a generous slice of 'Key Lime Pie' - light, tropical and bursting with citrus.
