This is a rich slice of Imperial Oriental elements set in an expansive sprawl. One can either choose to dine in decadence with the familiar Oriental delicacies or savour long forgotten flavours of simpler time. For starters, I loved the spicy pomelo salad, a perfect balance of flavours, though the ‘som tam’ did not match up to standards, it was not pounded as it should be nor was it addictively hot or refreshing. Malaysian satay and the good old crispy konjee lamb are good bets as is the Singaporean laksa of which the gravy has the two main ingredients aka the shrimp paste and coconut milk absolutely right, though I love it with cockles as well. The seabass from the Mei Kun Grill would thrill any palate, juicy, fresh and tender with a distinctly oriental flavour. The decadent wok-fried ‘mee goreng’ popular Asian style noodles, is a must try! I must add that the chef made me an amazing steamed brown rice with vegetables on request. Good wine list and the immaculate service make dining here a total experience.
