If the retro wallpaper, off-white partition and colonial furnishings look familiar, it is because Hotel Delmaar is positioned as an extension of the Sly Granny brand by Azure Hospitality. Toning down a bit of the eccentricity, Hotel Delmaar feels elegant and salubrious. The menu retains Sly Granny’s formula of comfy European plates with a special focus on healthy food. 'Pulled Pork' and 'Mushroom Croquettes' was adeptly fried to a crisp and burst with stringy mozzarella but felt little dry and under-seasoned inside. A bowl of 'Tomato Basil Soup' was rendered with balance and flavor. My main-plate of 'Fish Meuniere' featured flaky Bekti with crisp skin on bed of cubed potatoes, cherry tomato and herbs sautéed in caper butter. It was served alongside 'Fish Guacamole' but I missed another sprinkle of acidity in the dish. Dessert was wholesome - moist 'Amaranth & Jaggery Cake' garnished with sesame tuile and served with coconut milk, which I wished was ice cream though.
