A new arrival, Wasabi makes itself quite clear when it lists itself as a "fusion Pan Asian restaurant". Housed in Sector 7, Wasabi exudes a semi-formal vibe with its red themed interiors. But what is truly eye-catching are the murals that dot the restaurant’s walls. There are many Instagram-able backdrops here. The seating is also played around with – you could choose the family-friendly round tables or the sofas along the wall. There is a long island in the middle of the restaurant with high stools that are surprisingly quite comfortable too. The menu borrows popular dishes from Chinese, Thai and Japanese cuisine. Interestingly, Wasabi, unlike most Oriental restaurants in the city, also offers a selection of Sushi. True to their fusion theme, there are vegetarian sushi rolls too on offer. Choose from the likes of ‘California Rolls’, ‘Tuna Maki’ and ‘Smoked Salmon Nigiri’. Sadly, there are plenty of dishes misspelt on the menu and that is really putting off. If you like dumplings, there is a good line-up on offer. The ‘Rainbow Chicken Dumplings’ are well done and if you are keen to stick to greens, opt for the ‘Vegetarian Crystal Dumplings’. The menu also offers dishes tossed in the wok as a selection of small bites. We relished the ‘Huahin Highway Roll’ which was flavoursome with a cheesy twist. If you are not in the mood to go through 3 courses, you could choose from Wasabi signature meals in a bowl that are very well portioned. The ‘Chicken Broth for the Hungry Soul’ is a good place to start. Light and flavoursome, it is packed with vegetables and chicken as well as glass noodles, served with 3 wontons. While the menu packs in a lot, the dessert section is not just limp, it is completely missing from the menu. To compensate, Wasabi offers cakes of the week like 'Chocolate Strawberries Fudge Cake'. And if you are keen to give Wasabi a try, you can also drop in for their Sunday brunch.
