There seems to be a growing trend these days of restaurants serving only buffet meals. But making it truly worthwhile is the all-new entrant – The G.T. Road. As the grand trunk road traverses through various states, so does the menu at this restaurant. Step inside and you are taken back in time. An old vintage car is parked right at the entrance and the interiors will remind you not of a dusty high way but a bygone era where copper vessels and old artefacts dominate the decor. The restaurant boasts of a sizeable number of covers and can accommodate large groups, though table booking is advised. There is a live grilling station on every table and there is a substantial choice of non-vegetarian and vegetarian fare. The best part is the line-up of starters that arrive as quickly as you have settled in. It is usually a mix of north Indian street delicacies like chat and golgappas. Even though the first course fills you up, do save room for the lavish buffet that tries to add in dishes from every state on the GT Road – Kanpur to Kabul and more. Do try the ‘Tamatar Dhania Shorba’, ‘Dhoodhi Kofta’, ‘Aloo Gosht’ and the ‘Kadhi Pakora’. The service is very efficient and quick. The pricing is pocket-friendly too.
