The name is a conversation starter for sure. It is a clever use of the city’s name for a restaurant and it sure builds up expectations too. Chandiland, however, pays little tribute to the city in terms of the ambience – barring some furniture elements - but it has fast emerged as a party place popular for its live music gigs. There is vibrant use of colour both indoors as well as in the outdoor area with a retracting roof. The outdoor area is always buzzing and that has also got to do with the availability of hookahs here. The latter seems to a getting popular with many lounges firing up hookahs in the outdoor spaces. This works if you are a group of adult friends but might not work if you are dining out with the family with younger members. When it comes to the menu, it is multi-cuisine and here again, it is a predictable spread. The likes of ‘Roasted Tomato’ and ‘Minestrone’ lead the way for soups. Starters include a special section called bar nibbles and includes dishes like 'Gun Powder Potatoes', 'Aloo Chana Chaat', 'Char-grilled Vegetables' and the like. There is a good balance of vegetarian and non-vegetarian appetisers. To add variety, there is Italian as well, including a selection of risottos. When it comes to Indian mains, the 'Butter Chicken' we tried was overly sweet and disappointing. The 'Bharwa Khumb Kaali Mirch' did better but most of the food arrived cold on our table. Service could be better.
