It is one of the newest arrivals this year and thankfully, it has made sincere efforts to stand out from the crowd. Boathouse, housed near the courtyard area of Elante Mall, makes the most of its space – it is spread over levels and is perhaps the first microbrewery in the city that has a theme. True to its name, the Boathouse has a refreshing nautical theme. From the decor, wall accents, furniture to even the serve-ware, the theme is followed to the T. Step inside and you are taken in by the high ceiling and expanse of the space. The first floor is usually more bustling and even has a cabana for privacy. Since there was a private party on – a loud one at that – on the day we arrived, we chose to be seated on the ground floor. The service was sharp and our server was quick to take our order and highlight the specials too. The menu is multi-cuisine but not so predictable. There is a selection of craft beers and beverages. You will also find ‘Eggs Benedict’ and ‘Sushi’ on the menu here. The selection of soups is well thought out with the likes of ‘Malay Laksa Soup’ and ‘Bavaria Goes to Mexico Soup’. We skipped starters and headed straight for the main course. The ‘Famous Leek and Mushroom Pie’ was perfectly done and will appeal to those looking for cheesy, comfort food. The Korean rice bowl dish ‘Bibimbap’ was a delight and the portion was good for two diners. The flavours were spot on. We would definitely be anchoring here again soon to try more from the menu.
