It's been some years since Taj Chandigarh opened doors in Chandigarh. Ever since its arrival, the hotel’s round the clock coffee shop and cafe has been popular for its multi-cuisine spread, especially in lunch and dinner buffets. The open-style seating plan lends the place a nice airy look and the multi-coloured sofas and sofa-chairs add a touch of vibrancy. The grand horse sculpture housed right outside the entrance is perhaps the most photographed by guests visiting the place. Like most cafes housed in hotels in the city, Cafe 17, named after Sector 17, the heart of the city – dishes out a menu that packs in popular favourites. There is everything from breakfast options to soups, salads, wraps, pasta, risotto, sandwiches, appetisers and the likes. Since it is open round the clock, there is a comfort food section as well. Looking for a light supper, we opted for the 'Traditional Greek Salad', 'Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli' along with a 'Margherita Pizza'. The service was efficient and the orders arrived promptly. The salad and ravioli was a good choice and the portion was good for two moderately hungry diners. The pizza, however, was a bit of a letdown as the base was soggy and not crisp. The buffet is a better option given that it brings in Oriental, Continental and Indian dishes. The cafe also includes dishes from world cuisine regularly in the buffet. The dessert section is robust too though predictable. The 'Buffet' is a good option if you are short on time or looking to eat in a large group.
