When you come to a brewpub, you, of course, start with the beers. At XOOX (pronounced Zooks) a sampler is chargeable here, as with most breweries in Bangalore (I honestly wish they would follow the paths of Mumbai and Pune in this department). The beers that really worked for me are the 'Japanese Dry Blonde Ale' for its lightness of flavours as well as the Smoked Amber, with its mild smokiness, the 'Tarty Apple Cider' and the really good 'Hefeweizen'. There are, of course, the seasonal beers such as the 'Red Velvet' that is currently on taps and the 'Nitro Milk Stout', should it come back. Coming to the food, XOOX has now moved to do buffets – working lunch buffets through the week and Sunday brunches are a recent addition. I prefer going with the a la carte menu for the better options I find there. On our recent visit, we began our meal with the 'Beef Bruschetta' – tender beef chunks on homemade bread which was a great pairing with the sampler that we were getting through. We also asked for the 'Wasabi Calamari' – a good option, with enough of wasabi to give you the punch, without knocking you out. The 'Dehydrated Dosa' is a good pick – I like how the dosa is made into the likes of the Mangalorean Rotti and served up with tomato and coconut chutneys. Should you want something quick and reliable to go with the beers (which 500ml pours) then the 'Sabakki Vada' is a good bet as well. The bakery section is quite good here and you could give the 'Cheesy Vegetable Quesadilla' a go as also the 'Truffled Wild Mushroom Pide'. The 'Beef and Spinach Arabic Pizza' with 'Tomato Sriracha' is another good choice. Among the desserts, the 'Buttermilk Pannacotta with Raspberry and Rose' decoction as well as the 'Red Velvet Parfait' are nice ways to close the meal.
